London: George Allen & Unwin Limited. Hardcover. 248pp. 1956. First edition. Flat signed by the author in black ink with the expression 'from' and the date 12.2.68 - to the front endpaper. The author was the son-in-law of Keir Hardie as well as his biographer so this copy has a direct familial link with Hardie himself. A very good, tight copy in a good only jacket. No other inscriptions but a neat printed former owner's printed bookplate to the front paste-down. Original publisher's red boards - silver embossed to the spine. Upper edge dyed red as it should be. Some spotting to the leading fore-edge. The jacket has not been price-clipped. It has shelfwear, edgewear, several small chips to the peripheries and several short open and closed tears to the peripheries and is lgihtly faded to the spine. A very good, flat signed copy in good only jacket. . Very Good. 1956. First Edition.
