An English translation of these short lyrics by Karl Frohlich, illustrated throughout with beautiful silhouettes. Translated from the German of Frohlich by Madame de Chatelain. The rhymes have been adapted for this translation. This is a reprint facsimile of the first edition of 1860. Reprinted in 1974 by Bloomfield books and Publications. With illustrated silhouettes throughout, by the author. Frohlich was remembered for his drawings in German literature. Condition: In original cloth binding with title pasted to front board. Externally, excellent with just some minor shelfwear. Spine label and label to front board are faded slightly. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean throughout. Overall Condition: Near Fine.

A cautionary tale in verse, much enjoyed by Victorian children, and therefore not spotless! Card covers age-darkened, well rubbed with general soiling.
