Hockney based some of his early prints on literary characters, and Constantine Cavafy's poem "Alexandrian King" is the source of this image. Kaisarion was the son of Julius Caesar and Cleopatra. Zinc plate etching with aquatint printed in black and red on J. Whatman paper. Image size: 49 x 27.5 cm. Sheet size: 69.5 x 49.3 cm. Framed size: 76.5 x 53.6 cm. Excellent condition.
