Hockney based some of his early prints on literary characters and Constantine Cavafy's poem Alexandrian King is the source of this image. Kaisarion was the son of Julius Caeser and Cleopatra. Zinc plate etching with aquatint printed in black and red on J. Whatman paper. Plate size: 49 x 27.5 cm. Sheet size: 69.5 x 49.3 cm. Excellent condition. Presented in a white gold leaf frame with conservation acrylic glazing. SAC 8; Tokyo 8.
