St. Paul, Minnesota. Kahle Horizontal Fish Hook Co. [ca. 1954]. Salesman Sample. 4to. (12 x 8). 4 leaves with mounted Horizontal Hooks, ranging in size from 16 to huge 8/0 hooks. There are 46 hooks in all, ranging from saltwater hooks to smaller snelled hooks with leaders and each is accompanied by its size notation. Descriptions of the hooks are affixed to leaves mounted opposite the hook mounts. Advantages of the horizontal hook include no shank interference, no lipping, strike from either side, hook pivots on point, no gape interference, etc. With two brochures (one tipped-in) describing the hooks. Kahle hooks were patented by Victor Kahle in January 1953. These early hooks look to be the forerunner of today's circle hook. The salesman sample is bound in dark blue thick paper boards with a comb spine. Light soiling to the covers. Very scarce and in very good condition. .
