About This Item

Boston: Manning & Loring, 1805. 3/4 leather. Very Good +. The 1805 1st edition, lacking the 5 original "maps and views" called for (the 3 folding engraved maps of the Alleghany, Ohio and Marietta, and the engraved plan and the folding engraved panorama). Still though, a very presentable copy in its elegant, late 19th century 3/4 morocco over marbled boards and scarce even as such. Tight and VG+, with 5 raised bands and bright gilt-titling along the spine. Light wear to the tips, just a touch of light scuffing at the foot of the spine. Internally very clean, with no writing or markings to speak of. Octavo, top-edge gilt, deckled fore and bottom-edges. (Sabin and Howes).
