About This Item
Albany: E. Croswell, 1828. First edition. Hardcover. Fair. Legislative record of the New York Assembly in the period of the opening of the Erie Canal and the state's official outlawing of slavery. The Canal was a great success, allowing New York to rapidly recoup the money spent on its construction through tolls. Covers the period the Legislature met from January 1 to December 10, 1828, during the fourth year of DeWitt Clinton's second term as Governor, and (following his death), during Nathaniel Pitcher's tenure.
Folio volume, 1210 pp, Appendices A through F, xlviii Index. Three quarter tan leather with blue paper covered boards. Boards damp stained, front board loose but holding, spine perished. Early leaves damp stained at edges. As is.
