Spine has light tanning with soft crushing to ends. Book has a slight forward lean.

Dust jacket is sunned to spine and edges, some spots of wear to spine, a few stains to rear cover. Perforations to spine, rear joint, and rear fore edge. This new edition has been revised and brought up to date. Part I is biographical, making use of the papers in the Lovelace Collection, and studies the influences at work upon Locke's mind. Part II is an exposition of the Essay relating it to its background. Part III deals with Locke's teaching in political theory, moral philosophy, education, and religion.
