About This Item
Halifax: Formac Publishing Company Limited. 1989 (c.1989) First Edition. First Printing. Book Near Fine in photo illustrated card covers. Softcover. Foreword by Richard B. Goldbloom. Fiddlehead ferns, fish and a drink called swish, long underwear, Digby chicks, black rum and blueberry pie - its all here. In doggerel, song and ballad form, Jim Bennet presents an artful collection of rhyme written from the perspective of one whimsical Nova Scotian. Though written primarily for sheer fun, Jim Bennet's verses also document important facts of the social anthropology of the regions. The cartoon illustrations are by Catherine MacLean. Dick Goldbloom who provided the foreword is Jim Bennet's friend and who is also physician, musician, writer and skipper of the 'Papillon II'. A bright book - a very nice copy.. ISBN: 0-88780-076-9. Atlantic Canada-Humour Atlantic Canada-Verse Nove Scotia-Poetry Canadiana. Catalogs: Maritime Provinces.
