Paris: Stock, 1972. 286 pages; black and white illustrations; warmly inscribed on the 1/2 title page, "Pour Monsieur James Jones cette histoire de mon experience de la guerre en hammages respecteux Le 18 aout 1972 Ryuji Nagatsuka"; author was a kamikaze pilot and a university-educated Francophile; French text throughout; laid-in publisher's note to Jones regarding this book & other personal news; 6" x 9" format; the first French edition, which apparently preceded the English language versions by a year; preface de Pierre Closterman; some edge, tips wear, browning to paper wraps binding; very good condition; an interesting association between one of the best U.S. Army veteran American wartime writers and his WWII 'enemy', the Japanese pilot Nagatsuka; both were living in Paris at the time.. Signed by Author. First French Edition. Soft Cover. Very Good.
