An amazing fantasy -- our protagonist (I'm reluctant to say 'hero') is an over-the-hill assassin dying of cancer and not caring about it anymore. Until he was offered a contract: kill Jehovah and get paid with eternal life. Piers Anthony said, in 1987, the book would be denounced in both literary and religious circles. Imagine trying to get it published today, about 20 years later. A true fast-moving, complex, high adventure story with -- obviously -- mythic, spiritual, and religious aspects. (The book was translated into German and published in that country in 1985 as "Der Jehovah-Vertag.")
