From the library of the Kentucky Headquarters Library of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs with their bookplate and label ghost on front endpapers and call numbers on spine and copyright page. Frontispiece photogravure portrait and facsimile signature of Allen and two other illustrations. A posthumously published look at the life and work of Kentucky author James Lane Allen (1849-1925) , most famous for his novels A Kentucky Cardinal and A Choir Invisible, and his shorter stories for contemporary literary magazines. Allen and Townsend were Kentuckians, friends, and literary colleagues, and snippets of their mutual correspondence sprinkled throughout. ; Ex-Library; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 124 pages .
