Description:
New York: Metropolitan Museum of Art, 1980. 4to black clothbound hardcover with dust jacket; 187 pages profusely illustrated with 202 photographic illustrations, many full page. A production of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York in association with Berger-Levrault, Paris for a 1980 exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. From dust jacket: "The work of one hundred photographers, from 1848 to 1900 was selected to give both the public and the experts their first glimpse of some of the finest photographs of the nineteenth century. In spite of the spectacularly high quality of their production, only a few of these photographers - such as Felix Nader and Gustave Le Gray - are known to scholars...Whether familiar or unknown, they have left us a legacy of images documenting famous men and great events through a variety of approaches that ranges from studio to countryside and techniques that vary from daguerreotypes to honey-based collodion plates." Dust jacket has some flaws: half inch…

Description:
Artsept was a little-known periodical published in 1963 by the writer and film critic Raymond Bellour. Due to financial problems only three issues were published. With an editorial board consisting in particular of Raymond Bellour, Jean Cayrol, Armand Gatti, Jean-Louis Leutrat, Jean Michaud and Bernard Pingaud, Artsept's mission was to manifest film as the seventh art, embracing all other arts in their discourse. Each issue was dedicated to a specific topic, the first one to "real cinema", the second to "cinema and truth", and the last one to "love".On the cover of the first issue of Artsept appear the names of Cayrol, Colpi, Durand, Gatti, Marker, Resnais, and Varda. This reads like the "Who's Who" of the Left Bank Group and already indicates a different approach to film than André Bazin's famous Cahiers du Cinéma. Each issue contains a comprehensive filmography and bibliography of the filmmakers who appear as authors or subjects in Arstept.

St. Ann's Press, 2001. 1st. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. 130 pages. Hardcover with dust jacket. Like new in publisher's shrink-wrap. This first monograph on Fee accompanies two major gallery exhibitions in California. Fee has done editorial photography for such publications as Vanity Fair and Entertainment Weekly, but this publication focuses on his fine arts work from the past ten years. Fee physically manipulates his photographs and negatives in the darkroom, adding toners and chemical stains that result in beautiful glows of bronze and blue. This effect adds to a sense of decay in his dark, iconographic imagery of America, featured in the photos that make up the first half of this book. Also included are collaborations between Fee and Beat sculptor George Herms. Record # 352884

Description:
Routledge, 1990. 8vo size trade paperback; 390 pages including index From back: "This is a unique study, continuing the work of Merleau-Ponty and Heidegger, and using the techniques of phenomenology against the prevailing nihilism of our culture. It expands our understanding of the human potential for spiritual self-realization by interpreting it as the developing of a bodily-felt awareness informing our gestures and movements. The author argues that a psychological focus on our experiences of well-being and pathology as embodied beings contribute significantly to a historically relevant critique of idealogy. It also provides an essential touchstone in experience for a fruitful individual and collective response to the dangers of nihilism." Edgewear, moderate wear to covers with sunned spine; marginalia, underlining and very light highlighting on least 58 pages prior to page 107; two previously folded page corners, some stray ink marks on outside pages.
