A superior copy inside and out, being a sterling condition hardcover copy, with unbruised tips, tight binding, and clean internals, showing only very slight shelf- and edge-wear; not ex-library, with neither underlining nor highlighting anywhere. Bound handsomely in a two-tone, black paper over boards, red cloth-backed. A near-fine copy of the first printing. The publisher's blurb has it that "This concise study of Jackson Pollock provides a reliable survey of his life and work and an understanding of his paintings--their origins, meanings, and influence. Unlike other books on Pollock that deal extensively with his life or with formal analysis of his works, Cernuschi's is broadly interpretive, discussing and explaining concerns and meanings crucial to an understanding of Pollock's paintings. The first part of the book surveys Pollock's life and work with particular attention to the artist's intentions and the interpretation of abstraction. Stated First Edition, with "1" in number line present. 100 illustrations. Volume contains scholarly apparatus in the form of, e.g., notes, index, and bibliography. xiii [1], 1-336 pp.Member, I.O.B.A., C.B.A., and adherent to the highest ethical standards. Additional postage may be required for oversize or especially heavy volumes, and for sets.
