James Fenimore Cooper (September 15 1789 September 14 1851) was a prolific and popular American writer of the early nineteenth century. His historical romances of frontier and Indian life in the early American days created a unique form of American literature. Condition: In a half leather binding with cloth covered boards. Externally,rather rubbed. Front hinge strainedand rear hinge slightly strained. Internally, firmly bound. Some spotting to the first and last few pages but otherwise generally clean. Tears to the outer margins of p. 73 and p. 77, not affecting the text. Overall: GOOD ONLY..

Contains black and white illustrations. Expected library inserts, stamps and inscriptions. Binding remains firm.Pages are moderately tanned. More pronounced tanning and foxing to free end papers and pastedowns. Noticeable tanning to text block edges. Boards have moderate edge-wear with bumping to corners and noticeable rubbing to surfaces.Mild crushing to spine ends causing cloth to fray. Mild mottling to boards. Boards are slightly warped.
