Ivory Soap Ads 1902, 1904, 1906; F.Y. Cory. Four full-page original advertisements for Ivory Soap, manufactured by Procter & Gamble Co., Cincinnati; published in various issues of Ladies Home Journal. Pages measure 11 by 16 inches and are shipped flat. Other interesting smaller ads and articles on reverse sides. Paper lightly yellowed, lightly creased from handling.


1. April 1902. Illustration of a woman with many children, signed F.Y.C. [Fanny Y. Cory, 3rd prize winner in Procter & Gamble's artists' competition]. "There are many white soaps, each represented to be as good as the Ivory..." Cory, born in 1877, had already illustrated The Master Key by L. Frank Baum when this ad was published.


2. April 1904. Illustration of a woman in elegant dress standing by a mantel, reading a note. "There are many white soaps ..." Ad has two short tears along right edge.


3. April 1905. Illustration of a woman regarding her reflection in a mirror. "Many soaps, made especially for use in shampooing, are positively injurious ... Ivory Soap - It Floats." One short tear in right edge.


4. May 1906. Ivory Soap, with recipe for use as a "brightening" furniture finish. Illustration of Victorian matron, child holding doll, and aproned maid admiring the shiny top of an Egyptian-motif embellished table. Egyptian designs in the 4 corners of the ad.
