Original publisher's beige cloth boards lettered in black, with the original tan dust-wrapper. Spine ends a little bumped, the toned wrapper suffers a small loss to the spine top, and some amateur tape repairs on the inside. With a ink gift inscription to the FFEP. Charles 'Snaffles' Johnson Payne (1884–1967) was an English humorist and painter, who's distinctive style focused predominantly on equestrian and First World War themes. After a distinguished career, Payne continued to sketch and turned to producing Christmas cards for friends, and a series of books of his works, of which this is one. . First edition. 4to.
