About This Item
339 pages. Very good +, with a little tanning of spine; binding is tight, all pages clear, unmarked and pristine. Inscription by Prof. Zupko to the former owner, Prof. Kenneth M. Setton of the Princeton Institute for Advanced Study; flyleaf bears his ownership stamp.
Prof. Zupko is an acknowledged expert in historical metrology and the development of measurement systems from the medieval period to modern times. In Italy, standardization of measures developed very late (really not until "unification"), and as a result a multiplicity of systems and metrics prevailed for centuries; Prof. Zupko presents a comprehensive synthesis and analysis of these, and discusses their development in different Italian regions and spheres of influence and control.
