Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania.: Theodore Presser.. Near Fine. 1987. Softcover. 4to - 26.5 x 17.5 cm.; 10 pages including the covers with the pages being loose (not bound) as issued. This is publisher's inventory #312-41499. This is the S.S.B. (Soprano I, Soprano II, Bass) with keyboard accompaniment. The text is in both Latin and English with the translation by Potter who also edited the entire work and worked out the keyboard accompaniment. The 24 motets of Cantica Sacra were first published in 1662, Dering died in 1630, and Potter has provided the following information about this particular piece: ". . . all the notes of the realization of the obbligato 'basso continuo', originally intended for organ, are organized so that they can be played with the right hand. Original key signatures are retained and proportions are notated above the staff when a change in mensuration is indicated in the original printing. Modern clefs are used and note values have been halved. Cerrtain accidentals have been introduced, both as a consequence of rebarring and as a convenience to the performer . . .". .

Description:
Sheet music. New. for SATTB and organ continuo Continuing the Society's series of Dering motets, this setting of Ave Maria from the 1617 Cantiones Sacra is mainly homophonic, with a few imitative phrases. It displays Dering's love of the augmented triad and, with an organ continuo part, it is within the reach of a competent church choir.

Description:
Sheet music. New. for SSATTB and organ continuo Perhaps Dering's most well-known work, this concludes the Society's series of Dering motets. The SSATTB disposition allows for plenty of antiphonal effects and rich textures. The work builds to a climax with a heady set of Alleluias.
