NO owner's name or bookplate. Pages are crisp, clean and unmarked. NO foxing. 1911. First edition thus. Translated from the German edition of 1821 by J. W. Muller. A classic account of the history of lithography by its inventor and a practical manual on the process. The work was first translated into English by "A. S." and appeared in 1819 as A COMPLETE COURSE OF LITHOGRAPHY. This modern rendering is more lucid and easier to read. Complete with tissue-guarded, tipped-in, color-printed frontispiece portrait of Senefelder. For an extensive account of Senefelder and his work see Bigmore/Wyman II, pp. 339-351. Bound in the original gilt-stamped maroon cloth. Oversize Hardcover. 8" wide by 10.25" tall.
