Foreword to the fourth impression, 1948, introduction by author and bibliography. Between pages 64 and 65 there are 32 pages of sepia toned photographs. Within the text there are black and white line drawings. Illustrated paperback binding with black coloured titles to the front panel and backstrip. Black and white photograph of author to the rear panel. First published in 1940, the book " ... sets out to explain what "modern" architecture is all about." – from the verso of the front panel. Rubbing of the book edges, panels and either side of the backstrip. Sunning to the backstrip and to the left-hand edge of the front panel. A small stain can be seen to the front panel and there is tanning of the textblock edges and pages.
