About This Item

New York: The Atlantic Monthly Press, 1996. Signed on the title page by Sherman Alexie. First edition / First printing. Black paper-covered boards. Very fine in very fine dust jacket. Primarily know for his humor, though always spiced with deadly seriousness, this is Sherman's most serious novel. Indian Killer deals with urban alienation and the results of an Indian orphan losing all touch with his culture. It seemed a major breakthrough for him at the time of publication. It was well received and cross-marketed to Mystery bookstores. Though it doesn't have the resolved plot Mystery readers are accustomed to. His work since has returned to humor, along with serious themes, and nothing since has approached the deadly seriousness of this novel. A New York Times Notable Book of the Year 1996.
