About This Item
Chicago: McClurg, 1914. First Edition. Large 8vo, pp. 213. Index. Illustrated with photographs and drawings. A few color plates. Library binding. Ex library but a nice tight copy. Larson, Controversial James, 29; Howes J-43. Still the definitive study of the craft and artistry of Indian weaving. James was among the earliest systematic collectors/dealers of Navajo rugs. He spent much time with weavers on the reservation and collected most of the pieces illustrated in his book himself.
