Volumes I & II are third edition, published 1835 (Troisieme Edition indicated on title-page) and Volumes III-V are second edition, published 1837 (Deuxieme Edition indicated on title-page). Five volumes in contemporary matching gilt calf with marbled endpapers. Significant wear and rubbing to covers -- corners exposed, Volume I front cover nearly detached and some loss to tail of spine. Edges darkened. Internally, paper and text are bright & vivid, with some varying foxing, moreso toward front and rear of each volume. Otherwise a clean, tight and unmarked set. A handsome candidate for restoration in its contemporary bindings. All half-title pages present.
