Half dark green morocco over marbled boards, spines in six compartments separated by raised bands, gilt lettering in two compartments, gilt borders on spines and covers. Illustrated with 700 illustrations, views, costumes, maps, plans, etc. Each volume has a steel engraved frontispiece (Glasgow and Rio de Janeiro). Volume Two includes the Abstract of the 1851 Census of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. . Both volumes are in excellent condition, tight, square and clean; both show only very mild shelf-wear along the edges; hinges strong. A very handsome set. NEAR FINE. These are large and heavy volumes - additional postage may be necessary. . B&W Woodcuts and Steel Engravings. 4to 11" - 13" tall. xii, 1308; (iii), 1288, 61 pp .
