Heavy folios, pp. xxxviii, 1 (corrigenda), 466; 467-1085, green cloth boards half-bound in black morocco with gilt lettering to spine, top edges gilt, extensive illustration in gravure and halftone. Small label from the Western Mail Binder of Cardiff on rear pastedowns, with shelf numbers on spines and stamps on front pastedowns identifying these books as from the Cartier design studio on Fifth Avenue. Traces the development of gold and silver craft in the British Isles, beginning with the earliest available pieces. Set weighs about 10k or 23 pounds. Condition of this set: Covers rubbed and worn at extremities, spines sunned, but overall very good and sound. Size: Large Folio (bigger than A3). 2-volume set (complete). Text body is clean, and free from previous owner annotation, underlining and highlighting. Binding is tight, covers and spine fully intact. All edges clean, neat and free of foxing. London: The Holland Press, 1967. Reprint. Black Cloth. Very Good/Very Good Minus. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall. N/a. Type: Z xxxviii, 466pp. 1967 facsimile reprint of the 1911 first edition. This edition was limited to 500 sets. Volume one only. Original black publisher's cloth with silver embossed burgundy title block and silver text to the spine. The text supported by numerous photographic reproductions and line drawings. No inscriptions. A very good, clean, tight copy in a very good minus wrapper. Bumps to the head and tail of the spine. Lower rear board corner a little bumped and several other slight bumps to board edges. The text remains very clean, tight and fresh. The wrapper - a very thin tissue wrapper is a little chipped to several corners and the tail of the spine but nevertheless surprisingly well preserved. A very good, clean, tight copy of this limited edition facsimile copy of volume one.
