Leipzig: E. L. Morgenstern, 1882. Hardcover. [v] 184p., [ii] text in German Fraktur, preface, chapter decorations, ad for the Auf der Höhe International Review, front hinge split, rear hinge starting, bookshop stamp on flyleaf and label on pastedown, first edition, marbled edges, brown cloth boards, black diagonal band decorations on front cover with gilt titles, blank panel embossing on rear, covers shelf-worn. This is likely the last completed novella in the "Legacy of Cain" cycle which Sacher-Masoch had abandoned after completing the first two volumes, "Love" (which included "Venus in Furs") & "Property." This story was meant to be volume 3. Later editions gave the title as "Lemberg's Black Cabinet: Ilau.
