London: Edward Moxon & Co., 1865. Hardcover. Very Good. 16mo. pp. [3], 2-261. Noted as a new edition on the title page. Bound in full green morocco with raised bands on spine, gilt title and turn-in gilt. Slightest of wear on binding. All edges gilt. Previous owner's name on front free end paper. Slightest of foxing on a few pages at beginning and end. Interior of book very clean. A tight, square, solid copy. Attractive.
Synopsis
The longest and most ambitious work of his career, Idylls is a reflection of Tennyson's lifelong interest in Arthurian themes. His personification of Arthur, the highest ideal of manhood and leadership, is achieved through a delicacy of phrase and metrical effect that are unmatched.
