About This Item

1830 1ed Hans Holbein BIBLE Engraving Icones ART Aldus Dibdin German Renaissance

An exquisite collection of Hans Holbein engravings of famous Old Testament Bible scenes. 'Icones Veteris Testamenti' features 90 designs of Holbein, each of which is accompanied by the Old Testament text of each scene. Interestingly, each text is translated into five languages – English, Latin, Spanish, French, and Italian.

This unique 1830 printing features a printer's device designed after the famed Aldus from the 16th-century. It includes the expected introduction by TFD, or Thomas Frognall Dibdin.
