Basauri: (Grafilur, Impresion y Encuadernacion (Printing and Binding), 1990. Hardcover. Fine/Very Good Minus. Ibarrola, Agustin. Quarto size, 118 pp., inscribed by Agustin Ibarrola, in Spanish and Basque. A catalogue of an exhibit of the work of Spanish Basque painter and sculptor Agustin Ibarrola (b. 1930), known for his work expressing commitment to both social and environmental issues; laid into the book is a photograph, presumably taken by the prior owner, of Ibarrola's "Painted Forest" with the date of March, 1998.
Inscribed by artist "A Suzanne mi abrago (?) / Ibarrola" in blue ink on the copyright page.
___DESCRIPTION: Quarter black cloth with heavy cardboard covers, black endpapers, title page information in silver lettering on the front free endpaper, followed by a full-colour portrait of the artist in front of his work, copyright info on the verso with author's inscription in blue ink; chapters divided by black paper with cut-outs, samples of his work reproduced in full-colour, some woodcuts on heavy card stock, essays (in Spanish) at the beginning of each chapter; quarto size (just under 12" tall), pagination: (1)-118. Loosely laid into the book is an oblong photograph (presumably taken by the prior owner) with a date stamp of January 2, 1995, of trees in a forest with their trunks boldly painted; on the obverse of the photograph is the notation "March 1998 'Painted Forest' ". The dust jacket is of heavy tan paper, with black and white lettering on the spine, and a cut-out design on both flaps which both have dark brown silhouettes (no price printed on the jacket).
___CONDITION: Volume is overall fine, with a strong, square text block, solid hinges, the interior is clean and bright, and it is entirely free of prior owner markings; a hint of bumping to the corners, else fine. The dust jacket is unclipped (although no price is printed) and is overall very good, with a short, closed tear at the bottom of the front panel near the spine, a small chip out of the tail of the spine at the front joint, very minor overall wear.
