I, Robot. by Isaac Asimov - 1964: Science fiction stories.

Isaac Asimov was born in the town of Petrovichi, Smolensk province, RSFSR, in a Jewish family. His parents, Anna Rachel Berman-Asimov, (1895-1973) and Judah Asimov (1896-1969), were millers. They named their son after their deceased maternal grandfather, Isaac Berman (1850-1901). In 1923, his parents took him to the United States ("in a suitcase", as he himself expressed it), where they settled in Brooklyn and a few years later opened a candy store. As a child, he spoke Yiddish and English. From fiction, in his early years, he grew up mainly on the stories of Sholem Aleichem.

"I, Robot" is a collection of science fiction stories by Isaac Asimov, which was published in 1950 by the American publisher Gnome Press and had a great influence on modern science fiction literature. In this collection, the "Three Laws of Robotics" were formulated for the first time. It has been repeatedly reprinted and translated into many languages. It was first translated into Russian and published in 1964 (translator Alexey Jordansky), with the exception of the stories "The Way Out of the Situation" and "A Solvable Contradiction", which were translated later.
