I and II Samuel: A Commentary

by Hans Wilhelm Hertzberg

Condition: Good/None

This book is in good condition. There is some wear on the front, back, spine and edges of the cover boards. There is some staining also on the cover boards. The corners are bumped considerably on the cover boards. The previous owners name is written on the front end page of the book. The pages are yellowing but clear of any markings.

"Like my commentary on the books of Joshua, Judges, and Ruth, which appeared three years ago, the present treatment of the books of Samuel is concerned to examine and expand the material not only with regard to its individual details, but also with regard to its place within the whole book, and, where possible, with regard to its place within Holy Scripture. This seems to me to be a standpoint of which, at a time of predominately literary-critical work on the Old Testament, has been too much neglected, understandable though this neglect may be, and one which should now come into its own, particularly in a series like the Altes Testament Deutsch...." - Preface To The First German Tradition from I and II Samuel: A Commentary
