Limited edition, number 487 of 1000 copies printed by Robert and Moira Gibbings at the Golden Cockerel Press. Bound in quarter green leather with decorative paper covered boards (by Sangorksi and Sutcliffe). Top page edge gilt, other edges untrimmed. Includes the tipped-in notice to subscribers indicating that this is the first book to be printed in the new Golden Cockerel fount. Small bump to head of spine, very slight fading and rubbing to ends of spine, a little light foxing to page edges, otherwise very clean throughout. Includes the tattered remains of the original glassine jacket. The leather used for this edition is very susceptible to fading - scarce in this condition. Overall condition is Very Good Plus. Description:
The Golden Cockerell Press, Waltham Saint Lawrence, 1932. Book. Very Good. Hardcover. 1st Edition. First edition, printed by Moira and Robert Gibbings and limited to 1,250 copies (this being one of 1,000 unsigned examples on machine made paper). Tall 8vo. 52pp. Green cloth lettered in black at the spine. With two title page decorations (one by Gibbings and one by Coppard), and fifteen illustrations, also contributed by both men. Cloth just a little discoloured in places, and with a touch of very light wear to some extremities. Some spotting to the free endpapers, and just a touch more to two or three preliminary leaves. A very good copy in non-price-clipped dust wrapper, a little toned at the spine panel, spotted at the margins of the front panel, and with a touch of edgewear and a single tiny internally repaired tear..
