About This Item

Lancaster PA: Published for the Author, Inquirer Printing Company, 1888. Hardcover. 248p., has a folded map and several tissue-guarded portraits from period photography. Hardbound in 7.5x5 inch brown cloth boards spine-titled, covers panelled in blind. A wretched but complete copy. All edges of the casing were long ago taped (to reinforce? possibly to "decorate") in now-yellowed and detaching scotch-type clear adhesive. Endsheets and blanks are heavily taped with same results. Front hinge is held by cords and binder's crash only, rear hinge weak, textblock is slack showing threads at the gutters. Amazingly, we see no trace of anything missing, and the little map is clean. A very poor copy.
