Front end-paper, title-page, dedication page and Genesis to Chapter 10 are detached and are darkened with ragged edges. Lower part of first page of Genesis (parts of Chapters I, II & III) is missing. Remaining text-block binding is sound. Pages are a little darkened with some foxing, particularly in margins, throughout. Final page is ragged and darkened. Black tooled leather covers with gilt lettering on the front and spine, working brass clasp, gilt block edges. 7 engraved plates including frontis and decorated title-page. 6 plates of coloured maps at rear (H Courtier). Text in parallel columns with cross-referencing in narrow column to side. Volume has been re-jointed non-professionally using non-matching leather onto which the original spine cover has been glued with additional strips of replacement leather placed over spine to give an "appearance" of a six-banded spine. Binding is holding soundly, one holding pin is missing from clasp, pages, plates and end-papers are clean. Crease across plaint title-page.
