Theres some tears on the top edge of the front few pages. The cover has some small tears on that have been tape repaired. There are some creases on the cover and some soil spots on the cover.

Schmidt served as the chief press spokesman for Joachim von Ribbentrop's Foreign Ministry. In this capacity during WWII, he maintained close ties with the Wehrmacht, while he served in the Allgemeine-SS (General SS). One of his specialties was the "Jewish question". After the war, Carell became a successful author, although some critics have claimed that his books romanticized and whitewashed the Wehrmacht. Binding is tight and square and spine is NOT creased. Gently read if at all. . . . . . . . . . . A classic that is hard to find. I have most of Carell's books on the war, and they are great insight into the German side of the conflict. It is obvious that, had Hitler not invaded Russia, WWII would have favored victory in Europe for the Nazis, in those early years at least. Russia cost Germany losses in huge numbers, of manpower, equipment, and eventually, morale to continue. Failure during that first winter of '41-42 sacrificed too much to a power that had unlimited manpower and the ability to both manufacture and import tanks and trucks at a much faster pace than Germany.
