Irish portrait painter Charles Jervas (1675-1739) is probably best known for his translation of Cervantes' seminal picaresque novel which appeared after the death of both translator (Jervas) and artist (Vanderbank).Crisp impressions of John Vanderbank's spirited illustrations, engraved by Gerard Vandergucht, George Vertue and Bernard Baron.Includes both frontispieces -- the famous portrait of the author Miguel Cervantes by William Kent (signed in error G.
