Boston: Phillips, Sampson, and Company, 1855. First Edition. Hardcover. Good. Signed/inscribed by author, William H. Prescott, to the Honorable C. W. (Charles Wentworth) Upham, U. S. Representative from Massachusetts. Prescott was the grandson of William Prescott of the Revolutionary War, Battle of Bunker Hill. Upham was also the President of the Massachusetts State Senate, the 7th Mayor of Salem, Massachusetts, and twice a member of the Massachusetts State House of Representatives. Brown cloth covers have some fading and discoloration. The top and tail of the spines are worn, frayed and split. Corners and edges are rubbed to underlying board. Text blocks are clean. Binding is tight. The pages are clean and unmarked with very little foxing to pages and tissue guards. Bookplate on front endpage. Pictures available upon request.
