The Florentine Edition, limited to 250 copies. The present set is number 11 illustrated with two hundred tipped in plates in colour and with a preface by Frank Brangwyn. Haldane was one of the great art ciritics who traced the relationship between the master and his student. A very valuable work in the history of art. v. 1. The renaissance in Central Italy -- v. 2. The renaissance in Venice -- v. 3. Later Italians, and genius of Spain -- v. 4. The renaissance in the North; and the Flemish genius -- v. 5. The Dutch genius -- v. 6. The French genius -- v. 7. The British genius -- v. 8. The modern genius. Bound in 3/4 brow morocco over brown cloth, raised bands, compartmerntds lettered and decorated in gilt with with red and green onlays, three volumes have chips to head, some darkening to spines. From the library of Edmund C. Converse, Businessman, banker, art collector and book collector from the United States . A very nice set.
