About This Item

New York: Association Press, 1913. First Edition. Octavo. xiv, 290pp. (2)pp. ads. Inscribed by the author to Fellow Leader, O.E. Tyler. The best early history of the YMCA by its President Richard C. Morris. He was General Secretary from 1972 to 1915. Tyler first assisted the Navy with its YMCA program which provided places for sailors to relax, write letters home, a supply of books, magazines and games and anything to make the camp home away from home. Later, during the war with Mexico he was assigned to manage the same kind of situation for the soldiers at Camp Pershing. When the US entered World War I, Morse and Tyler worked to expand their program both on the home front and in Paris. Bound in dark green cloth lettered in gilt, spine lettering gilt, minor wear to corners and spine ends, some light speckling to cloth. Very nice.
