London: Printed for G. G. J. and J. Robinson, 1787. First English Edition. Hardcover. First edition in English. xxxii, [4], 476pp (with one pagination error); [4], 463, [1]p. Contemporary full calf, spine in compartments with red and green leather labels lettered and decorated in gold. The board edges are also decorated in gold. Map of Mexico and twenty-four inserted plates in volume I; map of the lakes of Mexico and one inserted plate in volume II. The appendix includes a list of Mexican Years from the foundation to the conquest of Mexico, compared with Christian years, a Mexican calendar, and more. With the neat bookplate of mining engineer Franklin Wheaton Smith, designed by Robert W. Hyde. Front joint of volume I and rear joint of volume II partially split, title of map in volume I cut out, wear to corner tips, light scuffing and rubbing to covers. A very good set. Graesse II.196-197.
