Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge, London, No date. Edition Unstated. Hardcover (Illustrated Cloth). Good Condition (ex-library). Illustrator: Illustrated. Preface by author. Black and white illustrated frontispiece and the black-and-white illustrations within the text have no illustrator credited. Brown and white coloured floral design endpapers. Red coloured cloth covered boards with black coloured decoration to the book edges, gilt coloured embossed decoration to the front panel and to the backstrip. The history of the Crusades as seen from a Christian point of view. This book is an ex-library book – Lending Library – Soldiers' and Sailors' Home: – library sticker and stamp to the front paste-down, stamps to the title page, stamp and date to the top edge of page VII and stamps to the verso of the rear free and paper and to the rear paste-down. The book is showing age, softening and rubbing of the backstrip edges, with bumping, rubbing and fraying of the book corners. Rubbing of the lower book edges and of the panels. There are small holes in the book panels – probably from insects – clustered around the backstrip. The backstrip is rubbed and somewhat faded. Tanning of the text block edges and age toning of the pages. There is heavy foxing to the first few and last few pages of the book and there is scattered foxing throughout though in some areas it is quite heavy. The spine has cracked between some of the pages with the underlying webbing visible, the worst is between pages 64 and 65 – please see photograph. Size: 12mo (Small Hardcover).
