Very good full leather hardbacks w/PON on title page of both volumes; both volumes also have nicely repaired hinges & foxing throughout; dark spacing on edges of front & rear pastedowns possibly from too much leather conditioner in the past that made the edges bleed; volume 1 lacks the 1st end page. Now, the positives: full leather with raised bands, NO other writing or marks other than those stated above. All six fold out maps/charts/drawings plus the frontispiece of Cortez are present, attached, & in nice shape - Biblio only allows 8 photos so if you need more, please advise. Please be aware that the photos above are part of the description and as such they trump any remarks listed in this column. Book(s) may be returned for any reason if received back within 14 days of customer receipt.
NOTE: The first edition was published in Madrid in 1684 authored by Solis, it was first published in English in 1724 and translated by Thomas Townsend. A second edition by Townsend was published in 1738 and this copy,the revised/corrected, third edition published in 1753 and was edited by Nathaniel Hooke.

Esta obra comenzó a publicarse en 1688. Solo se imprimieron 7 pliegos y la publicación fue interrumpida pues el padre Champion se pronunciaba en favor del obispo y en contra de sus hermanos en religión. En 1767 al abate Toussaint , en posesión del manuscrito original de Champion , escribió este libro modificando el estilo del antiguo manuscrito e insertando algunos documentos. Obra útil para conocer las querellas que dieron tanta celebridad a Palafox y que han impedido su canonización. Se publicaron 13 ediciones entre 1767 y 1772.
