Full Title: The History of the Castle, Town, and Forest of Knaresborough with Harrogate and It's Medicinal Springs: Including an Account of The Most remarkable Places, In the Neighbourhood; The curious Remains of Antiquity; Elegant Buildings; Ornament Grounds; And Other Singular Productions of Nature and Art Bound in contemporary (to volume) darkened blue boards with black lettering on the spine, split front joint (cover attached by cords), cracked rear joint, loss of spine cover for approx. 3cm at bottom and tear in spine cover about 3cm from the top. Sound inner binding, darkend end-papers. Front end-paper and frontis have both been trimmed by about 2cm at lower edge, The Dropping Well illustration of the frontis is outwith the trimmed area. Folded colour map facing first page of text (page 13) has short tear of about 1 cm adjacent to the gutter. Pages are clean but a little darkened at the untrimmed edges. In a later, likely late 20th century, plain leather binding with red spine label and modern endpapers, bearing a previous owner's stamp. Boards slightly rippled down spine, else bright, strong and clean. Internally pages dust-soiled at edges and slightly worn, with some rusting and faint, scattered spotting.
