Map illustrated endpapers, both different, the front endpaper: -- showing ancient Greece and Italy, the rear endpaper: -- showing the Roman Empire at the time of Trajan A.D. 98-117 stop the text is illustrated with 32 black-and-white plates, 20 maps and 10 tables within the text. Blue coloured boards with dark blue and yellow coloured embossed titles to the front panel and backstrip stop a little bumping to the lower text block edges and rubbing to the lower book edges. Light age toning of the text block edge. Plain text dustwrapper with green and blue coloured background with black titles to the front panel and backstrip. Chipping to the front dustwrapper corners and to the backstrip edges. A little creasing to the dustwrapper edges associated with all tears and rubbing to the dustwrapper panels. Browning to the rear dustwrapper panel. There is a 1 inch tear to the top right-hand corner of the rear dustwrapper panel. A history of the world from the beginnings of man to the fifth century A.D.
