Illustrated covers with plain red linen spine and containing four glorious tissue-protected chromolithographic plates. Plate I (frontis) shows 2nd Royal North British Dragoons (Scots Greys) on the Line of Marsh showing Trumpeter, Officer and Privates, Plate II shows: 1704 Private; 1742 Private; 1815 Private; 1799 Officer; 1811 Officer and Private. Plate III shows: Two Guidons of Scots Greys; 1831 Officer; 1850 Private; 1706 Mrs Christian Davies the Woman-trooper; 1864 Private; Private; Badge; 1854 Officer; Eagle of the 45th Infantry captured at Waterloo by Sergeant Charles Ewart (Scots Greys); Plate IV shows: 1893 2nd Dragoons Royal Scots Greys Review order - Filed Officer, Sergeant, Private, Captain, Private and Trumpeteer; 1893 Private Marching Order. Covers are a little darkened with light wear on corners, there is a separation in the internal binding between page 6 and Plate II but all pages, plates and guards are securely attached, end-papers are darkened, pages, plates and printed tissue guards are clean. Each volume has about 30pp. of text and 4 chromolithographic plates by Harry Payne; 1st and 3rd volumes have an additional chromolithographic plate of relevant tartans. Original coloured pictorial boards with cloth backstrip. Boards showing some edge wear and general soiling , the backstrip of volume three is worn. Internally an excellent set.. First edition of a projected larger series, most of which were never published. Photographs avilable.
