Amsterdam - Leipzig Arkstee and Merkus. 1771. Bound in full calf. Gilt tooled spine compartments. Marbled endsheets and edges. 16mo. Illustrated with frontis pieces and 12 large folding maps. An early reprint of the 1st Edition ( 1735 ) but containing the same number of large fold-out maps as that edition. Volumes 1 and 2 contain the complete six books of the military memoirs ( including all maps). Volumes 3 & 4 are 5 books of additional letters, and political pieces noted as Preuves De L'Histoire du Vicomte de Turenne. There may have been an additional book of letters, etc. not present with this set. Head and tailpieces chipped or lacking, wear to extremities, stamped title to spine of Vol. 1 lacking, short tears to several maps. All in all a Good set with some very crisp well preserved large folding maps. Featured Sets.
