(blank), [iii-viii - half title, imprint, blank, title page, blank, Table de L'Atlas, blank]. 27 cm x 23 cm. 4to. Hardcover. 17 double page plates, printed on one side of paper only, so that each plate appears on verso and recto of facing pages. Three-quarter sheepskin and marbled paper over boards. Worn through in patches of the spine, 2 leaves with small closed tears, faint foxing. Very Good at least. Uncommon. "In their writings published between 1845 and 1858, Joseph Toussaint Reinaud and Ildephonse Favé have been able to extract, to a large extent, the contribution of the Islamic countries to the technology of weaponry. The results obtained by them from the study of the manuscripts of Arabic works on military technology which were accessible to them at that time and from information in historical works are to a large extent valid even today."
