Pencil inscription to front free endpaper and paste-down, with a few small nicks along text block edge. Plates are bright and clear, with slight tanning to edges. Map is bright and clear, although slightly torn. Boards have light shelf-wear with minor corner bumping and slight crushing to spine ends. Book has a subtle forward lean. Light tanning to spine and edges. Unclipped jacket has moderate surface wear, with chips, tears and creasing to edges, corners and spine ends. Slightly tanned, with tape repair to reverse.

This book is two years of a naturalists life with daily observations. There is a map in the back of the Forest of Gaick and the Western Cairngorms. Slight foxing on the end pages and the cover has faded along the edges and along the spine.
