Frontispiece by Amy Nimr. Foreword by Patrick Leigh Fermor. Xan Fielding (1918-91) had an adventurous time during World War II as an agent of the SOE. In January 1944 he volunteered to be sent to France which he knew well from his youth The story of what happened once he arrived, taken from his earlier book, "Hide and Seek" (London: 1953), is told here. It involves the remarkable courage of a Polish colleague who was known as Christine Granville.
