Newark, VT: The Janus Press, 1979. First Edition. Softcover. Fine. Claire Van Vliet . Brown wrap (7" x 11") with text printed on Barcham Green DeWint paper at the Janus Press. Copy #277 of 285 numbered copies SIGNED in pencil by Heaney and Claire Van Vliet who has illustrated the 10 sonnets with 7 color woodcuts. In addition, below the signatures and also in pencil which can be easily erased, is written in an unknown hand: "And for Peter Maxwell on Christmas Day 1979 from his wife who loves him and who hopes for happy times in the land of this special book." A lovely book.
